JUNIOR GOLFER PATHWAY

Step 1: Join the junior Academy, attend coaching sessions, roll ups, development game sessions, play the Channel Course (accompanied) and gain handicap and ‘playing card’.

Complete cards for handicap. When ready to gain handicap, this can be achieved on the academy (orange) tees by handing in 6 x 9 hole rounds.

Step 2:  Advance to Channel Course Junior membership.  Continue to develop skills, and lower handicap, play in club competitions and represent the club in matches.

(NB at this stage, Juniors are welcome to remain as Channel members or advance to the Championship Course)

Step 3: Advance to Championship Course, subject to availability, playing assessment and handicap. A minimum of 3 competitions to be completed from the green, purple or gold tees of The Channel Course. Handicap of 26 (male) 34 (female) to be achieved.

3 months settling in period (playing with mentors) before entering competitions.

Progression to Championship Course.

Between step 2 and 3: Juniors may be selected for the ‘Horizon’ squad, working with Lee Corfield, PGA Professional, with an aim to reduce handicap over the course of the sessions and therefore gain access to the Championship Course – subject to availability. This is aimed at home club Juniors who have a handicap and need some further support to get their handicap over the line. (Additional charge).
