'PILL BOX'

Par 5, 572 Yards, SI 2
Named after the pill boxes that feature on some of the holes. You can see five pill boxes when playing this hole. One on the 6th, three on the 7th and one on the 13th.
This hole opened for play in 1978 as part of the course diversion to the west of the church. The fairway is played down what was the previous 6th hole which was also moved to the west as part of the same project.
Pro Tip
“Only the biggest of hitters will be able to reach this green in two with a favourable wind. The fairway narrows between sand hills for the second shot so accuracy is more important than length. Carry over the ridge which crosses the fairway for your second shot to set up a third shot that is guarded by two bunkers on the left and a runoff into a swale on the right.”
